Thank you. First up though. My fellow Americans, this is Liberation Day, waiting for a long time. April 2nd, 2025 will forever be remembered as the day American industry was reborn, the day

America's destiny was reclaimed, and the day that we began to make America wealthy again.

Going to make it wealthy, good and wealthy.

Donald Trump's Liberation Day took aim at enemies and allies alike, jacking up tariffs on every country.

Trump says the U.S. has been looted, pillaged, raped and plundered by other nations,

and promises his liberating taxes will usher in a golden age of plenty.

But they're more likely to create a poorer, more unequal America.

These tariffs take America's tariff rate back to levels not seen for more than 100 years.

It was a hefty increase in tariffs, a higher end of what analysts were expecting,

what I was expecting, a staggering press conference, really, both for the scale of the tariffs,

but also listening to Donald Trump's justification for them, just a very distorted view of trade

and America's economic history.
