And one big problem is country is far too small.

Oh dear, oh dear. small.

Oh dear, oh dear. That was me doing some quite tired standup of all these Germans

and unmistakably showing my West German prejudices. October the 3rd, 2015 marks 25 years of reunification between East and West Germany following the fall

of the Berlin Wall.

The physical wall no longer exists, But how many Germans still have the mower

in copf or wall in the head? A cat race that refers to the invisible cultural and

psychological divide between the two people.

I'm Henning Wen and in this World Service program I'll be looking at what differences remain

between East and West Germans and how united the country now feels. So where did the idea of the wall in

head come from? He was thought up by West German writer Peter Schneider, author of

the wall jumper, a book published in 1981, which looked at what the Wall meant

for the people living on either side of it. I met him in the cafe in Berlin where his inspiration for the expression

wall in the head was born. I was sitting here with my friend East German poet Thomas

Brash. He just had come to the West. This was in the end of the 70s.

And there was this big demonstration coming down to Coversendam,

people in black, just throwing stones into the windows and I think it was where the squatters

We had many demonstrations of this kind and

Tobath was fascinated and said this can't be true. This is all organized by the Secret Service.
