Friends, one of the great temptations in our postmodern culture is to see Jesus as one intriguing

offer among many on the smorgasbord of religious options.

One fascinating teacher among many. And that's typical of our time, as I say. We like choices.

We go to the grocery store and you have all these choices of salad dressing and all these choices

of breakfast cereal. So on the religious smorgasbord, there's all these different things. And,

oh, yeah, there's Jesus. He's good good and interesting but a lot of other people are too

however at the heart of the gospel is the claim that jesus is everything that he is the be-all and the

end-all the one for whom a totalizing decision has to be made. And I'm not going

to back off of this. I know it's an unpopular view. It sounds arrogant, overbearing,

non-ecumenical, etc. But it's just unavoidable. Jesus himself says, either you're with me

or you're against me. Either you gather with me or you scatter. We can't be indifferent to him.

That's the point. And it's the hard point of Christianity.

Either you give your whole life to Jesus, or you should reject him.
