I'm Susie Larson, so honored to have you listening today.

I look forward to bringing you conversations every single day

that hopefully inspire you in your faith walk,

the deep in your understanding of God's Word

and that heighten your awareness of his very real presence in your life. Well, my guest today writes this. He says, running away from pain

or ignoring its existence doesn't make it go away. Rather, it changes forms. Unaddressed tragedy

becomes addiction, numbness, over-spiritualizing, or artificial placidity. When we run from our deepest

pain, it will define us in ways we never imagined.

We must have the courage to run toward the pain.

If you listen often enough, you know I'm an advocate of lament and grief, and this is an

important and often missing element in the church today.

You know, I love the church, but we as God's people need to make room for those who are grieving.

It's messy. We need to

enter in to the mess without platitudes and ill-timed Bible verses and, you know, advice to rush people

through the process. It's messy. You can't sprint through it, though. This message today isn't

for everybody, but I think it is.

It's for those who are suffering or those who love those who are grieving.
