How do you keep your fitness commitment when there is a ton of snow out your front door?

Hi, I'm Dave. I've been walking for fitness since 2013, averaging about 21,000 steps a day.

Might seem a little early to be talking about snow and a lot of snow because we haven't reached winter, either the official

start of winter or the meteorological first day of winter. That's December 1st. But as I'm walking

right now, it is coming down at the rate of three inches an hour. Not here. Not here in South

Carolina, but in Buffalo, New York.

They are expected to get so much snow that they are using words like dangerous, historic.

Depending on how this thing rolls, the forecast is for two, three, four, five, maybe even six feet of snow.

The biggest snowfall that I experienced happened in 2016, January of 2016.

By the time it stopped snowing, it was close to three feet.

Started early on a Friday afternoon and continued snowing through Saturday night.

And I checked my Fitbit, and on that Saturday, I got 26,000 steps.

That was in the midst of a huge snowstorm.

Gratefully, we lived on a snow emergency route, which is, if you're not familiar, that's a road that has top priority for getting plowed.

So the snow plows were running all day long on Saturday and Sunday.

So I had no problem getting to where I needed to go, which on Monday morning was work, because it's just a bunch

of snow emergency routes connected to each other, all I had to do was get out of my driveway,

and we lived in a house that had a pretty long driveway.

Every couple of hours would go out there, and there'd be another couple three inches,

and would run the snow shovel and get that driveway cleared. So by the time the snow stopped falling Saturday night,
