Hi, everybody. Welcome to the librarian is in the New York Public Library's podcast about books, culture, and what to read next. I'm Gwen. And I'm Frank. And our hot topic today is ourselves.

0:20.5

Everyone immediately clicks off.

0:22.5

Right, goodbye.

0:23.4

We will talk about books at some point, we swear.

0:26.5

But I kind of wanted to tell people that this is my last podcast, and I wanted to say goodbye,

0:31.8

and I wanted to do it properly.

0:32.9

And I kept, as I was thinking about kind of what I wanted to say, I kept thinking about the thing that Vanessa

0:38.2

Zoltan always says on Harry Potter and the Sacred Text, which is that, and I think it's like part

0:43.0

of their Patreon fundraiser or something. So obviously this is not a fundraiser. But she says basically,

0:48.4

like, I would have done this show alone in a room with you gladly, but the fact that there were other people listening

0:54.8

made it even more special, and that's totally how I feel. So I'm really glad that we got to do

1:00.4

this for 156 episodes, which is amazing. So, yeah. I mean, we should say that the library wants to continue the podcast, and we're going to take a break, I think, for a while. Yeah. But there's going to be a break for a while. Right. You're taking a permanent break, apparently. My break is permanent. The show's break is for a while. Until February? Yeah. And, you know, who knows what the future will bring? I mean, we'll see.

1:29.3

Yeah. I think it's exciting whatever iteration next take.

1:33.0

Yeah, and they do know they're starting a new season in February.

1:36.6

Yeah, with some exciting announcements, actually.

1:38.7

Right, right. And so I do think it'll be really cool. And I'm looking forward to listening to the show as a listener

1:45.0

and not a host, and I do think there's some interesting new things in the works. So the show will be

1:49.7

back. I will not be back. Gwen, I got to say, I can't imagine doing it with anybody but you. I really

1:56.5

can't. Yeah. I mean, I sound so like, yeah, we'll see you in February kids. But I can't imagine it's been amazing with you. I mean, I can't even start saying stuff because we'll get teary. Well, I got you a present. You've been everything to me.

2:14.2

You've been everything to me. It's not an actual present. I thought you put your phone down. I thought it was a wrapped gift. It is a wrapped gift. It's behind my back ready. No, it's not. This is the gift that I got you for our last episode together. A book. It's a book. You really want a segue. It's a. Oh my God. I'm going to kiss your face.

2:35.0

So what Frank is looking at right now is a Penguin Classics edition of Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.

2:40.4

And the gift that I got you is that I read every word of this book, including the introduction and the end notes.
