We certainly appreciate you making time for us and appreciate your opinion all lead off here and ask probably the most simple questions and not over think the room but what's the what's the latest on the status of Jamie Newman and what do you expect from him comes out of the evening.

Well I think coach Clausen's pretty straightforward he doesn't really try to hide a lot and he said a lot without really saying it in his press conference there's going to be a high bar for Jamie Newman to play on Saturday that was the take I got from it we've got a very capable back up in Sam Hartman who started as a true freshman last year before getting injured then when he stepped in on Saturday night against Louisville he proved to be more than capable again so I think if Jamie Newman is not 90 to 100% ready to go with the another by week coming up.

After the seminal's then he's probably going to sit and Sam Hartman will take the range but something interesting to think about is Dave Clausen wanted to register Sam Hartman so with the new rule you obviously get the four games this will be the second game he's played in so that's not a big deal something worth considering but I think ultimately we will see Sam Hartman out there on Saturday.

It's such an interesting situation obviously last year floor states are Hartman as well in fact Hartman played the whole year last year right I think as Newman was or well Newman played some right.

Yeah Newman took over I don't remember exactly what game Hartman had a lower leg injury I think it was ultimately a broken bone Newman stepped in actually let us to the comeback win over in C state on the road last year beat do.

Badly on the road and then let us to a bowl win so he didn't want the starting job this year so we saw a little bit of them both last year we see a little bit of them both this year and that's why you want to capable quarterbacks.

It seems like both those guys are very capable runners as well as throwers but they're stylistically like I went back try to watch today a little bit during my lunch break some of Hartman.

Like they kind of use Newman as a bit of a battering rame at times right he's he's a thick like big dude and his his throwing numbers are are pretty good Hartman last year his run numbers were really good throw numbers were not quite as good is one of better throwers one better runner like how would you differentiate the two.

You know it's kind of funny the mindset of the fan base last year when there was the big debate over who should be playing before the season and kind of as the season went along was the Jamie Newman was really really good at the short pass and the and the deep ball but the intermediate wasn't that good Hartman showed a lot of really good refinement for a freshman.

But he also showed that he can run as well and in the offense that we run Jamie Newman has been used more like you put it a battering rame he can run over people he doesn't really try to avoid the big hit but same Hartman is much more in the John Wolfer type mentality of he's quicker than he looks so he could get out there and do that too but

Newman's look pretty good this year throw in the football obviously especially on those deep balls and he's kind of matured in that intermediate game too it's hard to say one way or the other I think they just got varying styles even though they both are can can do both quite well.

He killed Louisville I mean 15 attempts for a buck 72 and two touchdowns no picks like that's that's a pretty nice back quarterback to have and we we're very familiar here in Tallahassee with the idea of hey a quarterback spanged up.

And the by week is the following week why risk it why not set him out this week and next week you know which is the by week so you're not missing two games you're really just missing one and then have a chance to come back because that's exactly what James Blackman did in not playing the game against NC state and then had the by week and then like Clemson which you could have 10 by weeks it would not have mattered but yeah that that's that's probably a pretty smart play on on class and sport.

Yeah I agree and I think newman is not discernibly better in my opinion than same heartman he's look very very good this year but when you see heartman just step right into the offense that you ran last year and do as well as he did against Louisville not a great defense but.
