Okay, so a strange thing happened. Chad is from Hawaii, and he sent me a picture of a very simple but beautiful chinto Buddhist temple in Hawaii.

I don't have the photo in front of me, but I can't go off of the screen, but it said Hanalee, and then the name of the temple, in what I assume is Japanese.

The Hanalee was spelled H-O-N-O-L-I.

It's always amazed when Hawaii comes up how many of our listeners have a connection to Hawaii, and I don't mean went there for one vacation.

I mean, either served there. Marcus Atrol was in studio years ago, eight years ago maybe, and he found out Chad was from Hawaii, and he talked about his posting there.

It's in the book, Lone Survivor, he talks about his experience in his service, but he knew Chad's cousin. Chad knows everybody in Hawaii, it seems like, but he knew Chad's cousin had all these stories, and he had all these great Hawaiian memories, and that was one of his favorite parts of his Navy service was his time in Hawaii.

But anyway, so there is reference to Hanalee, and oh, I have one friend named Jimmy Papis, he's a mayor of Bunker Hill estate or something, one of the villages, and he's still to this day wears Hawaiian shirts all day, like he's Larry Durker, but you're not Larry Durker, there's only one Larry Durker, it can only ever be one Larry Durker.

But he's got a house down in Galveston that he has outfitted in 1978 chic Hawaii. Everything in it is like you're stepping into, you know, an old episode of fantasy islanders has got Hawaiian Shag carpet, he's got all the tropical this and his ringtone on his phone on his flip phone was Magnum P.I.'s theme song, but here's the best part.

So everybody knows he lived in Hawaii, and we don't know how long, but it's like a big part of his personality, and his his ringtone being Magnum P.I., but you know, you know, it's ring to Hawaii, Jimmy is Hawaii, and he always talks about Hawaii wants to retire to Hawaii is Hawaii this Hawaii that he grows tropical plans, I can't make fun of him too much because he helps my wife grow her tropical plants, and he's an expert. You wouldn't expect it because he's a mountain of a man, but he's got the greenest

thumb you will ever seen, Mr. Green Jean's green is his thumb and his tropical, his tropical plant growing is quite, I have to give, I will actually begrudgingly give him credit on that, but his big deal was that Magnum P.I. was the, was the ringtone on his phone when it rang and he loved that.

And about a month before they cut it, here it was, you know, he's on some metro cell or some cell phone service from 1978 that's still hanging around right like the, what's it not everyone's internet what's when people still have that old,

AOL, yes, like the AOL of phones and phone services, but they told him that they're doing away with the custom ringtones, and so he it was like a countdown he was lose and now it just rings it is just rings anyway.

So chat sends me this beautiful photo and I ask him the story about it and I should put I think I'll post it because it's a glorious, simple not overstated, but it's just,

it's, it's a great building. You'll see it when I post it. And it says, Honoli. So I asked Chad about Honoli and I think Honoli is the place. I'm going to get this wrong, but Chad will correct me.

And I said, wait a second, Honoli, that's the reference in the song Puff the Magic Dragon.

So I went looking in Puff the Magic Dragon, which I always thought was completely fanciful. It was, it was fictional, which it is.

But that brings us to the next story. Do you know the guy who wrote the poem from which they lifted those lyrics for that song Peter Paul Mary did? His name is Leonard Lipton.

And he never really wrote much of anything after that and he was 19 years old.

Now, I don't know that the poem itself would be so great if it hadn't been made into a song, granted.
