Well, God did not make us to float lazy along with the trends of pop media, like a jellyfish drifting this way and that way by the currents of pop culture.

He made us to be dolphins who cut against the currents of pop culture.

That is, of course, Pastor John, a pair of your favorite metaphors to use here.

And this jellyfish and dolphin metaphor comes up when we talk about cultural pressures,

like those of cussing or using crude language,

or even on the topic of the currents, the cultural currents, towards lustfulness.

For those examples, see the APJ book on pages 137 to 138 and 32, just to see how the Bible warns us against cultural drift

and to see how Pastor John uses that pair of metaphors, the jellyfish and the dolphin

in both contexts, really illuminating to see. I'm thinking of currents today because we're talking about drifting today, and we're talking

about drifting because we just read that haunting, lest we drift text of Hebrews 2-1.
