The Pilot TV podcast, because you can't watch everything. Hello Pod, I'm Chris Hewitt, and welcome to another Empire podcast interview special.

Mission Impossible, the final reckoning is currently gracing cinemas around the world,

and if you are among the millions of people who have seen it so far, you most likely have had your mind blown by the stunts that Tom Cruise performs in the movie as Ethan Hunt,

whether it's in the intensely claustrophobic submarine sequence or the daredevilry

of the biplane sequence. Cruise is front and centre, of course,

and Christopher McCorrie wrote and directed those sequences, but they wouldn't have been half as

effective, I'd wager, without the expert input of the film's second unit director and stunt coordinator

Wade Eastwood, no relation to Clint in case you're wondering. Eastwood, who hails from South Africa where the biplane sequence was shot,

has been stunt coordinator on all four crews Macquarie missions.

But as you told me, when we caught up recently on Zoom,

this was by far the most challenging and dangerous yet.

Now, this interview isn't a spoiler special,

but in order to talk about the sequences freely,

Eastwood and I do go into spoiler territory from time to time, even if I'm trying to keep it

vague on the plot side of things. Just in case you haven't seen the final reckoning and have decided

to listen to it anyway in a move, so ballsy that Ethan Hunt might try to recruit you for the IMF.

So do be careful. Tread cautiously in case you haven't seen the movie. For everyone else though,

rush headlong into this like Ethan Hunt running down the wing. Move over, Mo Salah. Here's Wade Eastwood.
