Gunshots could be heard on neighboring farms as they ring out around 9.45 in the morning on February 28, 1993.

The shots originated from somewhere on the Mount Carmel property on Double E Ranch Road just outside Waco, Texas.

What happened during the firefight and after will be discussed deeply in this second part of our special Waco edition of Music City 911.

I'm your host, Brandon Hall, and I'll be doing another solo episode tonight.

I'll start off with a little brief recap of our last episode to bring everybody back up to speed.

So on the last episode, we learned a little bit about David Koresh and his background,

that he had a bad childhood.

He was primarily raised by his grandmother and attended to church with her,

and then ended up bouncing from church to church for various reasons,

one of which was trying to date the preacher's daughter and got booted out,

ended up landing at the branched Davidian compound in the early 80s, and at one point claiming the ability to talk directly to God,

and that God had instructed them to procreate with the leader of the group's mother,

who was then in her late 60s.

And of course, that didn't work.

He ended up getting back and force with the leader

and Koresh and his immediate followers were kicked out the compound at gunpoint. During the time

following this, when the leader of the group found that a lot of his fathers still believe that

what Koresh was trying to push, he issued a challenge to Koresh to essentially see who could

resurrect the dead. He exhumed a body and Koresh after reporting it to the police, but needing

proof of it, went to take pictures of the body that had been dug up along with seven of his

followers, all armed.
