Meaningful Day was a Washington State program that was considered a major success since it started 10 years ago.

It provided outings, workshops, and other enriching activities for about 1,000 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

But the need for severe budget cuts

erased all of meaningful days funding. We'll have a look at what it means for caretakers and

residents in a minute. But first, let's get you caught up. A visual barrier at Seattle's Denny Blaine Park has gone up.

The fencing is part of a court-approved city plan to divide the park into two sections, clothing

required and clothing optional.

The barrier comes after a group of residents sued the city, claiming there were illegal

acts taking place at the park, like drug use and

lewd activity. The city's plan also includes increased patrols by park rangers. The U.S.

Justice Department has closed its civil rights review into the death of Manuel Ellis. Ellis died in

2020 while being restrained by three Tacoma police officers. All three

were eventually acquitted of murder. U.S. Attorney Tessa Gorman initiated a review of the case

after the verdict came down. President Trump removed Gorman from the post shortly after he

returned to office. He replaced her with an acting U.S. attorney

who closed the inquiry this week without an explanation. And downtown Seattle is seeing an
