Today's episode is number 52, Kelly Ann Tinius.

This case was a listener suggestion, and as I said on the episode, I was particularly interested in it because my family was from the town where this crime occurred. And I hadn't heard of it before.

I think that's probably because my father's side really didn't talk true crime like my mother's side did,

or rather just my mother. But this was such a sad case as well, one of those senseless

tragedies that devastates families and communities and reminds us that sometimes our monsters

are hiding in plain sight. For Kelly's family, they remain committed to justice for their daughter

1989, in Valley Stream, New York, a 13-year-old girl watching her younger brother received a phone call.

When she hung up, she told her brother that she was going to sneak out to a friend's for a little while and would be back soon.

But a little while would come and go, and the young girl did not come home as promised.

As police and family searched, the young girl's terrible fate was soon discovered and would tear a community apart.
