All right, welcome to Think or Be Eaton. Our guest is Ray Nelson, and authors whose major work has been mainly in the science fiction genre. He's written at least 10 books, the best known of which, arguably, are the Ganymede takeover and Blake's progress. He's no stranger to the short story, and perhaps his most popular work in that medium is 8 o'clock in the morning

on which the film They Live is based.

Ray is also a cartoonist of note and has screenwriting credentials as well.

He drew a comic book version of 8 o'clock titled NADA for the comic book Alien Encounters.

And of course, he was involved in writing the screenplay for They Live under the pen name Frank Armitage.

And I believe All Carpenter was involved in that and his girlfriend, if I got it right.

But Ray was born in Schenectady, now currently lives in California.

Back in the late 50s, now currently lives in California.

Back in the late 50s, he married in France, where he also met the Beats, and I'd like to ask him about that.

And he also attended University of Chicago, and that's kind of interesting, too.

So, Ray, thanks very much for taking the time to be with us.
