Good morning folks. Welcome to the show today. I'm Joseph von Benedict. This is the

backcountry hunting podcast and man for this episode I'm going to do things a

little differently. I am flying purely by the seat of my pants. No show notes, no real deep topic or

subject that I plan to cover today. This is for various reasons. You may be able

to tell I'm still a bit sick and my voice isn't right. Man, I had COVID back in Thanksgiving, right around Thanksgiving, shortly after.

And it was a breeze compared to this simple cold that I've had for the past two weeks.

Anyway, I'm coming out of it. It's just still affecting my vocal cords and so forth, so apologies for that.

The other thing I'm dealing with which is going to affect the

length of this podcast is I just don't have much time right now. Some of you know were building a home in southeastern

Idaho and well I've had contractors and building a home.

this is the single worst time in history to be building a home.

Materials are ghastly expensive.

Skilled labor is really hard to find.

And even simple stuff like windows can take

weeks and even months to get well we were nearing the home stretch, we thought. We were supposed to be moving in about now.

Well, it turns out that our subcontractor that was hired to do our drywall and mudding, taping, sanding, texturing all that,

you know, basically creating the final surface for the paint to go on, you know that last finishing touch, well without

going into details we fired him Monday.

And it was bad. We brought in some evaluators to repair the work he's done,

and by the way, he's been there three and a half months.

Homes around us have been done start to finish in

three and a half weeks. So, so much frustration. Anyway, we had one drywall repair and mudding expert walk up to a
