episode 15 the Battle of Luctra. Oh, The village of Luke Tran is known for little more than this famous battle in Greek history.

Luuktra can be found just under 10 kilometers northwest of the more famous settlement of

Plataia, the base of the Polis, who offered more support than anyone to the Athenians when they

resisted the Akemny Persian invasion of Attica at the Battle of Marathon in

490 bcee

Platea would be the site of its own battle just 11 years later when an Allied Greek army would march to meet the Akeminid Persians

and defeat them at the Battle of Platea to expel them from the Balkan Peninsula.

Lutra lies on the road from Platia to Thespi,

the home of the Thespians who provided manpower to the futile cause of King Leonidas and the

300 Spartans who bravely fought and lost in the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC.

This entire area of the Balkan Peninsula is called Beosha and it acts as a gateway from the north to access the Attica Peninsula where we find the city of Athens and the Isthmus of Corinth which leads to the Peloponnese.

The biggest Beocean city was Thebes could have been settled from Mycenaean times due to the archaeological evidence discovered in the region.

It is possible that after the late Bronze Age collapse

that Dory and migration from the north brought the region under their control after the Mycenians completely disappeared,

taking all of their Linear B writing script with them and leaving us with no story about

what exactly happened.

Athens emerged as an influential Polish throughout the peninsula of Attica

and the area of Biosha was flanked to its west by Fokis.

To the south the police of Corinth situated on its isthmus.

As a region, Boeotia would become mixed up in the affairs of large apollos, such as Athens and
