On June 9, 1912, in Velisca, Iowa, the Moore family was making their way back home around 9.30 p.m.

from a children's program at the local church. Catherine Moore's friends,

Ena and Lena Stillinger, were attending with the Moore family at the church,

and they made their way back there to spend the night. Seems like any other summer evening in the Midwest, they're all washed up and said their prayers before laying their heads down to sleep.

Little did they know that they would never wake up that night. One of the most gruesome,

unsolved cases in American history, the

Velisca ax murderer murdered the entire Moore family along with the two friends of Catherine,

Ina and Lena. A murder so random, yet a murder scene filled with such rage that left

the Midwest just terrified. What would possess somebody to randomly mutilate

an entire family with an axe, or was it as random as we thought? Tonight, we'll explore the

possibilities, suspects, and motives, and try and get some answers, even if those answers come

from beyond the grave with our special guests, Johnny Hauser.
