Last week we had the privilege of having the discussion about the misfortune I had of

going to the town council meeting in Brownsburg and how in the journal that I am writing to

my daughter, daily, one of the things I said that is a double edged sword for me is that

I take great pride in the fact that she will grow up in the same streets on the walk on

the same sidewalks play in the same yards and literally grow up in the same houses that

I did because that's a sense of community and that's a sense of history.

And I think it's very important when we teach community and history to our children.

However, that being said, the community that she will grow up in is absolutely nothing

like the community that I grew up in.

The town itself, the identity of the town, the structure of the town, the sense of community

that the town had is all gone and none of that is for the better.

Sometimes growth can be good, sometimes improvements of communities can be good.
