Hello and welcome back to Sociology 101. Just recently, someone sent me a video clip of Dr. Vodibacham,

who I consider a friend who I greatly admire in many ways.

You hear me say things like that oftentimes when I bring critique to my Calvinist friends

because I want to make sure we're setting the example for all those that are watching.

We are not trying to throw people out of the kingdom.

We're not trying to harshly judge people more harshly than we should.

I was a Calvinist for 10 years, and so I

understand why people are Calvinists. And so when I'm critiquing someone like Vody or someone

like John Piper doesn't mean I don't have a respect for them, love for them as a fellow brother

in Christ. It simply is saying that these are things that I'm concerned about, misconceptions about what

the scripture says, and I'm trying to bring critique in a loving way. And so keep that in mind as

we listen to this. And you'll notice what he says here is not real offensive whatsoever. In fact,

I would agree with everything he says. The problem is, is that as Dr.

Allen is famous for saying, Calvinists have the same vocabulary but a different dictionary,

and therefore we've got some issues to deal with when we talk about what is called the

sovereignty of God. Let's listen.

We're offended by the sovereignty of God because we want self-sovereignty.

We want to rule.

We don't mind there being a God as long as it's us.

And sovereignty means that I have to bow to another, that I am not in control.

And we don't like that.

He's right. Sovereity does mean that we have to bow to another, that we are, and we don't like that.
