welcome to the Explorers Podcast.

Today we have a couple of firsts, a Russian Explorer, which is a first and Siberia also a first. I have been wanting to get into the exploration of eastern Russia, so I am excited to dip my toe into these waters.

Now before we get going, let's get this question out of the way and that is what and where is Kamchatka?

For most of us the answer is it is a huge area on the eastern edge of the Asian continent in the board game Risk. In the game,

Kamchaka is critical because from there you can cross over to Alaska, therefore

it's essential if you want to hold Asia and get those extra armies or invade

North America. But this is not risk, and Kamchaka is, to be honest, horribly

misrepresented in the game. It's way, way bigger on the risk board than in real life.

The other thing that many of us might know is that there is a Kamchatka vodka. It is an awful vodka, but cheap, and did we mention bad?
