Today is the eighth and the final episode in our series on Ernan Cortez and the conquest of Mexico.

Let's get at it.

Last time we ended our show with the fall of Tenoch Titelin.

Cortez had defeated the Aztecs and captured Emperor Quote Moq after a 75-day

siege. The city was in ruins and hundreds of thousands were dead.

And while that takes us up to the conclusion of our narrative, there is still a lot more to talk about.

Here is the agenda for today's episode.

First, I have a few general notes about the series I want to discuss.

Second, we will cover the immediate aftermath of the siege,

focusing on some of the big things that happened in the wake of the defeat of the

Aztecs. Third, we will talk about some of the people outside of Cortez

involved in our story.

Fourth, we will then focus on Cortez and cover the remaining years of his life.

And finally, I want to make a few random observations about the fall of the Aztec Empire and the legacy

of Cortez and the Spanish conquerors.
