who calls her experience

comfort and goodbye.

Jessica says,

I'm a brand new listener, but I'm enjoying every episode.

I don't have any scary experiences,

but two of them pull at my heartstrings,

and they bring a small sense of comfort. To preface this first experience, my paternal grandmother

and I had the same teddy bear with a black dress and paw that would play a short lullaby.

When I was a toddler, I was hospitalized for a very short time related to asthma.

My mother had purchased this teddy bear to comfort me in the hospital. I'm not sure how my

grandmother came to have one as well, but we love the fact that we both did. When my grandmother

passed away from cancer during my sixth grade year, around 2010, one of my only

requests was to have her bear that matched mine. At the time, we lived in Fort Worth, Texas,

in a newly built home. A few months after my grandmother's passing, I had a friend over for a

sleepover, and she asked me why I had two of the same bears.

I explained to her that one of them was my late grandmothers, and I then changed the conversation to finding snacks downstairs.
