why we remember it, and what are some of the lessons and the teachings that are connected

to that particular historical moment. And one of those occasions, one of those dates in the Islamic calendar that is specially marked

and has a very special significance is the ninth day of the 12th month of the lunar calendar.

So similar to the Gregorian, the solar calendar, the lunar

calendar has 12 months. The 12th of the final month of the lunar calendar is given the name

Zulhijja, which quite literally means it's the month in which the haj is performed. And it had that name even before the time of the Prophet Muhammad
