Congratulations to the Hokies, because if you know a Hokie,

if there's a hokey in your life, this James Franklin stuff has driven you crazy for about three to four weeks, you know, I mean, the flight tracker, this getting spotted on campus.

Oh, he's at the O'DU game.

You know that could also be a recruiting hotspot for Virginia Tech.

It's true.

It's, it was a long run, but Virginia Tech gets its guy.

James Franklin is expected to be the next head coach for the Hokies. I was just on CBS Sports HQ with Tom. I've got a sense of his initial read on this, but how, where do you start with this in turn? Is it a James Franklin story or is it a Virginia Tech story to you? Probably some of both, right? I mean, I think Franklin would have had options if he wanted to sit out the year and survey the landscape. Maybe, you know, kind of take stock of his approach and what he was doing. I think overall, like his approach at Penn State was awesome, right? Like they won a whole lot of games in a sport that is like increasingly chaotic year to year they were extremely stable up until you know this last season um and obviously we're out as welcome a little bit there uh at Penn State just you know by doing kind of the same thing every year which is bumping their heads up against that ceiling and you may not be able to break through with a national championship or or a national appearance. But I think the guy runs a good organization. I think he's proven he's pretty good at hiring coaches and we'll cast a wide net in doing so. And runs just like a pretty good operation, man. Honestly, it's a very, I would say, competent head coaching hire. As Tom always says, great hire, I have no idea if it's going to work out. And that's, I think that's true. Have you tweeted it? Yes. Did you tweet it yet? All right. I mean, we generally don't know how it's going to work out. But sometimes we could first guess, like, that doesn't make any sense, right? Occasionally, it's like, all right, this is the AD hiring his buddy type thing.

And I don't think that's the case here. And he must have really nailed the interview because if you think about it, like they just took a guy off his staff in Brent Pry.

Who was, he was a he was a hokey. And so, you know, I'm sure part of the interview process was, okay, not that you know exactly

what Brent did here, it failed, how is your approach going to be different given that a lot
