But let's jump into the conversation from Saturday night and a little bit of a mix bag.

Some very legitimate positives to take away from that game and to kind of look at as we're

three games into the season and some concerns that let's just say have yet to be alleviated at the same time.

But occasionally Smith issue stuff and I was looking at at last year's SP plus ratings at this time.

Because people like are you sure this team is better than last year's and using something totally

unbiased like that right or you can use FPI or whatever if you have those ratings from last year.

This time last year they were off to a one and two start. They were 77th in SP plus.

They ended up finishing 71st. This time last year they were coming off that game against Syracuse.

Today they're 42nd. In the preseason we said what they need to return to be in like at least a top 40 level team if not better.

I think so they're not better or they're not where they need to be right now.

They are legitimately improved. I went and looked at the ratings again here and it's still early so I don't

think these things are totally concrete. But this four state team on a neutral field against last year's

four state team at this time would have been about a 10 point favorite over last year's team. A lot

of that is because this year's team can actually score some points right and last year's team could not.

This year's defense is not as good as last year's defense obviously but the the improvement defensively

or excuse me the improvement offensively has been larger than the regression on defense and
