And she said that's been a directive by President Trump.

Five months later, we have zero answers, only more questions. What have we gotten since? Stonewall, evasion lies.

I was Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer yesterday, announcing that Democrats will use the so-called

rule of five law in an effort to force the Trump administration to release the

Epstein files. The question is, what is the rule of five and will the Justice Department

comply with it? Meanwhile, President Trump escalated his trade war with two countries and agreed to

a new deal with another. The question is, will he stand firm on Friday's deadline for higher

tariffs for those who don't yet have a deal. Plus, the Fed is

holding steady on interest rates, despite pressure from the president to lower them. But yesterday's

decision by the central bank wasn't unanimous. The question is, what does that mean for its next

meeting, which comes less than two months from now? It's way too early for this.

I'm Mali Vitale on this Thursday, July 31st. We're going to start with the news. Democrats are launching a new strategy to get the Epstein

files released. Senate Democrats yesterday invoked the little-known rule of five law to pressure

the Justice Department to unseal grand jury records related to the deceased sex offender and his

convicted accomplice, Golan Maxwell. Under that rule, the government must provide relevant information if any five members of the

Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee request it. The rule essentially offers the

minority party a way to compel information from the executive branch since they don't have

gavel power and so they can't issue congressional subpoenas. The request was made in a letter led by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and signed by all seven Democrats on that committee.

This is not complicated.
