The Vikings started making some off-season moves, one of them the release of running back

Aaron Jones after two seasons in Minnesota.

We've got quite a bit of news to go over, but the main thing for the Vikings is that

Aaron Jones and J. Vaughn Hargrave have been informed that they're about to be released.

It's always around this time. It's the Combine The combine is really when the news starts to pick up because agents start to get a sense for their markets. Teams start to get a sense for what the agents are going to expect. And it helps you make all those decisions, right? Now the Vikings know if we cut Aaron Jones, this is what we think a replacement for him will cost.

This is what we feel we'll have to do in the draft or whatever, and they can start to make the decisions, right?

Jones and Hargrave were two, I think, pretty common cut candidates just by virtue of the disproportionate size of their cap hits to their production.

I mean, Aaron Jones figured to be like the second biggest running back cap hit in the league in 2026. And you knew that had to come down. And who knows? Maybe there was even talk of, hey, if you want to come back, here's a pay cut or whatever. And Hargrave kind of the same thing. It was going to cost like 21 million. And he was only playing half the snaps by the end of the year. So where that leaves the Vikings in both of these is a couple of interesting places, right? We'll talk about in a second exactly what happens with the money
