And what an eventful day out at TCO Performance Center.

It was a lively practice, definitely the practice of the year so far.

And I've got, I don't know, 20 different notes.

Oh, to go along with Josh Mattelis signing a contract extension.

So we will get into it.

I'm going to break down J.J. McCarthy's performance today in full here to start the show and then give you all the

rest of the notes from today. I figured that it would be a really hard practice because they have

the day off tomorrow. And I'm not resting my voice though. I'm actually going to host on WCCO

radio tomorrow morning. So if you're driving around, put it on 8.30 a.m.

But there is a lot to get into. So I'm not going to waste any time here.

Let's talk about what J.J. McCarthy did out on the field today.

I would say that it was one of the better practices that I have seen J.J. McCarthy

have so far in his career at any time going back to this mini camp, OTAs, last year's training

camp, last year's mini camp. And what we saw from him was the progress of his arm and his development. And it

was interesting because Kevin O'Connell in his press conference before practice, he talked about

J.J. McCarthy making a lot of the touch throws, the ones that I'm doing a story about how defenses play

zone all the time now, that the zone coverage in the NFL is increasing and increasing,

which means a lot of times that throws have to go over linebackers in front of safeties into

these tight spaces that aren't just

tight windows throwing in between guys, but also over guys as well, which takes a lot of
