and center and dominated the headlines, pretty much anywhere you look.

We at Break and Views looked at it as we try to do through the lens of finance and business.

Now last Friday was Juneteenth, the celebration of the official end of slavery 155 years

ago.

On that day, my colleagues, Anna Shamansky and I wrote a couple

of columns on the matter of reparations. That's the question of whether the government owes a debt

to the descendants of enslaved people. Anna looked at the arguments and calculations that have

been mooted around this difficult issue on which a majority of black Americans agree, but not yet

all Americans, according to polls.

I also wrote a column arguing why I think corporate America might actually lead the charge
