I am so happy to report that the cinema club is about to open its doors for January.

Next week, Matt Lansman will be joining me for a business as usual to discuss the

calendar for the week of January 13th. But for now, I have a rapid-fire news bulletin for the shows

playing this week. On Thursday the 9th's evening show, it is Elvis Presley's birthday. Catch a double

feature of Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas.

To start off the evening, we have Jailhouse Rock, where Elvis plays Vince Everett, a man who has

just served time for manslaughter and leaves jail to find himself becoming a teenage rock star.

Second on the double billing is Viva Las Vegas. Elvis may be at the wheel, but it's Anne Margaret who drives him

wild. In this flick, Elvis plays Lucky Jackson, who arrives in town with his car literally in tow

ready for the first Las Vegas Grand Prix. The only problem? He doesn't have an engine. This double

feature is sure to be a smash. Friday the 10th's evening show,

I want to hold your hand with co-hit Corvette Summer. You guys, I have to go off script here.

I want to hold your hand is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's Robert Zemachus's

best movie. Yes, those are fighting words and I am ready to go into the ring.

It's a coming-of-age tale starring Nancy Allen,

where a group of girls do anything they can to see the Beatles.

The way that Zemachus works in actual concert footage in this movie,

it's Chef's Kiss.

Seriously, you won't want to miss it.
