And the Vic Mensa is an MC who's a really deep guy. He's open about his battle with

depression, his interest in feminism, and the pain that the streets

have caused him. He lived for a while in a really violent part of Chicago, but he could have

been in so many places when he talks about the way that the

vibe of the street turned him into someone he did not want to be.

What did you learn about why you were attracted to violence and why you were

repelling intimacy?

100% you know, I believe that it is also Bell Hooks that says that the first act of, the first act of the first act of violence kind of like that the black

boy is conditioned into is not against is not against

against the woman, it's not against, you know, their fellow men or their fellow

men or their fellow boys, it's against the emotional parts of themselves.

Because from childhood, you know, we're taught that, and not just like we're just males, you know, from childhood we are taught that the motion is

weak that to be submit is weak that to be vulnerable is weak and to cry is weak.

So if crying it's stopped acting like a girl,

you know, or if a boy gets punched or pushed and doesn't punch or push back, then it's you're acting like a girl,

you're a bitch, you know? when especially when being being young and black

that's not that's not acceptable you know what I'm saying?

And you kind of learn, you learn that you can't

and don't want to be like that.

Like I vividly remember being young and you know kind of getting picked on at certain times and

one time in particular when I got I got beat up at the basketball court on 47th Street and
