Okay. We spend a lot of time in this show talking about the threats of a second Trump term.

And we do that because it is extremely important to understand what could be coming and

what the stakes are. Everybody needs to know all about it. But I know that at times that can all feel kind of dark

and really depressing, believe me, like we're all just trudging through the mud of politics together

with no end or light in sight. But I have to say, lately I haven't felt that way at all.

Not because Trump has gone away, he has not gone away, but because there's just this kind

of new energy in the air.

And I feel more excited about politics right now than I have in a very long time.

So we're going to spend some time tonight talking about all the reasons to be excited right

now with some of the people who are just as excited as I am.

We're going to talk to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who is being mentioned as a possible

running mate for Kamala Harris. We're going to talk to Senator Brian Schatz, who endorsed

the vice president with a picture of him climbing up a coconut tree. You can see it right there.

And we're going to talk to former Obama speechwriter John Favreau, who knows

what it's like to be on a campaign riding a wave of momentum. But first, I think it's important

to note that the excitement I'm talking about isn't just my own personal take or the take of anyone

on the show tonight. It's about the response in the country to Vice President Harris.

And I've got to be honest, I mean, the last seven days have surprised me a little.

Not because she isn't a smart, qualified former prosecutor whose candidacy is historic in

so many ways.

She is all of those things.

But her candidacy in the last week have been so unifying and so uplifting at times, it's even become a bit of a social
