quite I mean obviously when he when we kind of got windy had this Instagram account you thinking right what's he what's he up to here let's hope he's just got another B hotel and we can all you know be happy about it but no he did a video

saying he's retiring and I know Katie you're quite quite shocked and quite sad about it and as I'm I'm yeah I mean I'm a very emotional person anyway like I

cry it pretty much everything so this was never going to be a good day for me but yeah let you say the Instagram account was created late last night and there was a little thing in the back of my head that thought

could he use this to announce a retirement but it was very much I was hoping I was being optimistic we were talking about whether he'd announce he's we home some bees or whether he's doing a clothing line or

something like you know what drivers do these days not announcing his retirement I thought he might be a bit more of a traditionalist and

announce it in like a press conference kind of giving off like a shoe mack avi but actually thinking about it Instagram is a great platform to do that

on because everyone is going to be paying attention to it you can announce it all at the same time everybody gets the

information all in one go and you can announce your terms as well exactly you're not you're not forced into it or anything like that

no but yeah I was crying this morning before he'd even announced it because I had a gut feeling that that could be what it was and my suspicions were correct so yeah I've been I had to get a load of articles out and do my job and then it might hit me

hit me through a lot afterwards I watched in full the announcement that he put out on his Instagram black and white very moody very moving and then yeah the floodgates opened and I've put my scar on for this twitch watch along to try and convince myself not to cry again because I just get I'm just so emotional about it it was inevitable it was going to happen but still doesn't make any easier to process

yeah and I mean it's just it's a shame it really is a shame it's quite it's quite interesting how Sebastian Vettlers had this arc of not probably being particularly liked when he was winning and you know but some people saying that he was quite arrogant yada yada yada all this sort of stuff but you know since he stops winning surprisingly everyone starts to realize what an awesome guy he is how he always was quite playful

in press conferences and I say was like he is still he still is around you know he's very playful in press conferences very fun to to listen to very engaging and we never really wanted to think about the the R word for for Sebastian Vettler because you think

of his love for the sport maybe he would stay around for for a little while longer but you know if you've watched the video in full you'll see that you know it's not just a case of you

as to Martin aren't winning so I'm I'm going to hang up the boots it's the fact that he wants to spend time with his family which you know you completely understand

that nika rosberg had the same same thoughts but obviously you know some people were a little bit skeptical because of the way in which he did it after winning a world title

Seb you know he's he's also got the same the same reasons and you can't really hold it against either of the really it's a formula one is an all encompassing sport

it absolutely takes everything out of you and you can see the way he was kind of describing it that you know he has to dedicate his life to it in order to be you know anywhere near peak performance and as you get older as well you have to put more ref in

if anything to stay on top of your fitness and things like that so yeah you could tell that he'd almost come to his own conclusion quite he was quite comfortable in saying what he seemed that way anyway that

you know his racing stand but that's not the end of his journey and he wants to do more and and that's you know very commendable I don't I don't personally expect him to disappear into you know nothingness and never see him ever again I feel like

and never be seen again kind of vibe I don't think he'll do that yeah I feel like he's going to stick around he loves formal one so much that you know maybe he'll you know take a step back for a few years but I can't see him staying away for long
