It is the secret shame of a nation, something that should not be happening in 2018.

It's something you see on the streets of every city, however, in this country.

And we're talking about the scourge of homelessness.

A new report says that more than 440 homeless people have died on our streets

or in temporary accommodation in the past year. Many of them are veterans or our armed forces.

Some are just down on their luck or suffering for mental health problems. And for a crucial

number of those living on the streets, it could all be so different. If only there was housing

available, if only there was affordable housing available, and if only rents were not quite so high.

How can we, as a society, allow this to continue at all?
