Summary
A history making verdict out of Georgia today: it’s the first time the state has held a parent criminally responsible for the actions of his child. A jury took less than 2 hours to decide the fate of 55-year-old Colin Gray, convicted of 4 counts of 2nd degree murder and manslaughter along with dozens of other charges. Gray has been held responsible for the shooting deaths of 2 high school students and 2 teachers after police say his 14-year-old son, Colt, opened fire on his classmates and teachers. Prosecutors say Gray gave Colt, who he knew was emotionally troubled, an assault rifle for hunting, on the Christmas before the mass shooting.

| 0:05.9 | Hey there, folks. It is Tuesday, March 3rd and guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty, |
| 0:13.9 | guilty 27 times over. A jury in Georgia has found a dad criminally responsible for his son shooting up a school. |
| 0:26.2 | And with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and T.J. Ropes. This is a case people were watching, |
| 0:30.6 | not just because of this, but the implications down the road. And this jury did not take long to figure this out. |
| 0:37.4 | I have to say, I was frankly surprised, |
| 0:41.7 | not just at all the guilty verdicts because this is the first time we have seen a father |
| 0:47.9 | charged with second degree murder. There is a previous case that we can talk about from a |
| 0:53.1 | year ago where they were found |
| 0:54.4 | guilty of manslaughter, but second degree murder, four charges or four counts of that, in |
| 0:59.7 | addition to manslaughter and so many other charges, as you mentioned, 27 to be specific. And yeah, |
| 1:09.0 | less than two hours. Less than two hours after two weeks of testimony, |
| 1:13.5 | there was a lot to digest. Colin Gray even took the stand in his own defense. His daughter |
| 1:18.5 | took the stand. His, I guess, estranged wife took the stand. That's a lot to process and to go through. |
| 1:24.7 | And they were quick and decisive. You know, it might be a reason they were quick and decisive that we'll get into here in a second as well. But Colin Gray, of folks who remember this was the shooting, this is the dad we're talking about. The son is cult, 14 years old, accused of, and he is still in jail. That's something else. It's wild. The dad has been held responsible for the shooting that the son hasn't even been |
| 1:44.5 | found guilty of yet, but this is where we are. But yes, the shooting was in 2004 at a high school |
| 1:50.8 | just north of Atlanta in September of 24, Appalachia High School there. And here's the thing, |
| 1:59.3 | brobes. Again, we've seen so many school shootings. We have |
| 2:02.5 | seen some parents, at least, held accountable. But unfortunately, Robs, this is important to |
| 2:10.8 | keep an eye on because we're probably going to have more school shootings. And this is, |
| 2:16.2 | is it possible? This could help cut down on or prevent |
| 2:22.1 | even one because parents now are going, whoa, whoa, whoa, let me pay attention to my own |
