I'm definitely never going to be redeemed as a character.

There's no way they're going to find depth and heart in my story. I'm your bruiser, Eddie Brock, Jake. And with me. Hi, I'm the symbiont. I'm Donnie Cates. I'm here. This is what it sounds like in my head. When I write the character, and he's like, Hey, Eddie, let's get on out of here, fella. You're going to be all right. You're going to be just fine. It's Morty. It's just Morty. Yeah, yeah. Rock and Morty. Yeah, exactly. Rock and Coopie. Yeah. Well, hey, thank you for having me, man. I'm so honored and pumped to talk about Venom. I like that guy a lot. So this is one of those weird things where I feel like if you look at the title of the episode and you see with Donnie Kate, you're either going to be like, oh my God, they got Donnie Cates to talk about Venom or they're going to be like, who's Donnie Cates? Because it's such a, it's one or the other.

It's not going to be like, oh, okay.

It's so rare that we get to talk about a character and talk about a property with someone

who has fundamentally shaped the future of that character.

For explaining to the babies in the audience,

Donnie Kates is a writer with Marvel Comics,

a member of the Illuminati,

the secretive behind-the-scenes cabal of people

that shape the future of our favorite superhero characters.

And he had recently come off,

what I'm going to say is the most legendary Venom run in the entire,

short of, I don't know, short of the weirdos in the late 80s that we're going to also talk about.

It's three straight years of taking this character and kind of forging them through

redemptions, through crossovers through

massive event books and taking uh the character of venom to i think a place that nobody

beforehand thought he could go it's amazing to have you here oh well thank you so much man uh you know

it's um i i suppose we're we're just going to dive right into the gush right yeah and
