And Hugo Chavez's central planning is for fewer public voices of dissent, the better.

And Hugo Chavez's central planning is faltering.

Chavez is now taking aim at Venezuela's last independent television outlet and is rejecting

demands that he prove he is not supporting FARC guerrillas.

In doing so, he has begun closing the border between Colombia and Venezuela.

Global Liberty and Prosperity comments.

Since last year President Ugo Chavez has announced that he wanted to shut down Globobision.

Globision is the last remaining independent TV station in

Venezuela.

And Cato has hosted events related to Globavision available on our website discussing sort of the fight between the

Chavez regime and Globe Vision about how to best promote the freedom of speech there.

Yes, last year we held an event here at Cato, actually the president of Globission was invited,

Guillermo Suuaga, but he was prevented from living the country under bogus charges of car hoarding.

He also has a car business and the government has charging with car hoarding and that's why he couldn't

leave the country. Now actually he was sentenced to, he was a judge issue arrest warrant against him and he had to leave the country otherwise he will be in jail right now.

But last Tuesday, Global Vision, the President announced that he was seizing a minority stake in Lobovision.
