| 0:11.0 | Today we meditate on the life of venerable Jan Tironowski. |
| 0:17.0 | Jan was born in 1900 and grew up in the suburbs of Krakow, Poland. |
| 0:25.3 | His father wanted him to be an accountant, and he began working in this profession, but by |
| 0:30.9 | 1930, the stress of the position was so bad that he developed serious stomach problems. |
| 0:38.0 | These were so debilitating that John had to leave the accounting profession and he began to work in the family business as a tailor. |
| 0:50.0 | See, Jan was extremely introverted, and he loved being hidden and alone. |
| 0:56.9 | And it worked really well for him to create or mend suits in the solitude of the family |
| 1:02.4 | tailor shop in the back room. |
| 1:06.0 | Then came the moment that changed his life. |
| 1:09.0 | In 1935, Jan heard a homily in which the priest said it is not difficult to be a saint. |
| 1:18.8 | Tironowski took this as the truth. |
| 1:27.0 | But how should he go about reaching this new found goal of becoming a saint? First, Jan recognized that becoming a saint meant deep intimacy with Jesus. |
| 1:37.0 | Intimacy with Jesus was the goal of life. |
| 1:41.0 | But now that he had the right goal, he needed to develop a system to stay focused on intimacy |
| 1:50.9 | with Jesus and to become detached from an over-emphasis on earthly bodily material desires. |
| 2:00.8 | So Jan created a personal system so that he would have the daily spiritual practices necessary |
