Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Today we meditate on the life of venerable Jan Tironowski.

Jan was born in 1900 and grew up in the suburbs of Krakow, Poland.

His father wanted him to be an accountant, and he began working in this profession, but by

1930, the stress of the position was so bad that he developed serious stomach problems.

These were so debilitating that John had to leave the accounting profession and he began to work in the family business as a tailor.

See, Jan was extremely introverted, and he loved being hidden and alone.

And it worked really well for him to create or mend suits in the solitude of the family

tailor shop in the back room.

Then came the moment that changed his life.

In 1935, Jan heard a homily in which the priest said it is not difficult to be a saint.

Tironowski took this as the truth.

But how should he go about reaching this new found goal of becoming a saint? First, Jan recognized that becoming a saint meant deep intimacy with Jesus.

Intimacy with Jesus was the goal of life.

But now that he had the right goal, he needed to develop a system to stay focused on intimacy

with Jesus and to become detached from an over-emphasis on earthly bodily material desires.

So Jan created a personal system so that he would have the daily spiritual practices necessary

to reach the goal.
