I'm Dan Schneier. Joins, so it's my co-st, Nick Falado. Today's a special day. It's the start of our draft profile season, baby. March Madness is the past. I'm just going to be honest with y'all. I watch Crazy Manson Martin Madness. I bet crazy amounts of Martin Vandis.

0:56.0

I do a day where we rent out a bar.

1:12.9

I'm not doing draft profiles during March Madness. But March Madness has now reached its point, Nick, where we've got a few games this weekend that are insanely important to me and worth a lot of money to me. But I don't have to study for it during the week and make my picks. My brackets are all in. So we're talking draft. We're talking Giants fifth overall pick for now. This is where we're going to start in our draft profile season. We're going to discuss all of the prospects that might be in play at five. It's way more than usual, Nick. Like I'm thinking back to past years, we had neighbors, we had quarterbacks, and then we had like some of the quarterbacks that might be left on the board. And then it wasn't too much else we were even really discussing last year. It was Carter. We were saying, oh, Sanders, maybe I guess they're at the pro day. Like we didn't see it at all with him at three. And then there wasn't all that much outside of that that we were discussing a couple of their players. This year, man, there are a lot of prospects in play at five, dude.

1:44.9

And there's a lot that we're going to talk about.

2:02.9

We're going to do two at least this week. So this is the first one we're going to do. It's a player that may or may not be in play at five, Nick. I'm still not sure if the Giants would take him at five. They would definitely consider him if they trade back, though. So I think he's worth discussing, especially because I would actually consider him at five personally.

2:55.3

And we'll see where you're at soon with that. And that player is Vega-Jewane from Penn State, the offensive guard, the left guard, though he did play, and I want to make this clear, so fans know this from the start, 300 snaps over the last three years at right guard. He can play both sides. that's very important considering where the giants are at at the guard position um so let's talk yawane before we get into we'll talk a lot i want to set this the tone for those who are new to our draft profiles we're going to talk about the player we're going to talk about our film evaluation our projection we're talking about where he could fit on the giants and we're going to talk about if we would take him at a certain pick or if we would take him otherwise and why and when. But I want to say before we do that, I wanted to just get your first overall opinion of this player just from watching his tape. Yeah, first off, ass kicker. Ass kicker, dude. That's what you want to is. Vega, you want to. He's just raw power. once he gets his hands on you has like what like 10 and a half inch hands.

3:57.8

And once he gets his hands on you, you're done like in pass protection keeps everything tight keeps that ass low nice sink fluid feet nimble feet for a guy who is what six foot three six foot four three hundred and twenty pounds. Not the longest guy, but that's why he plays inside a 32, 32 and some change in charms. But for me, like if you want to, you want somebody to dictate on the line of scrimmage to just be somebody who's going to be a duo blocker, somebody who could be that like, I'm just going to pave a path in power gap to the play side. those down blockers can wash you down the line of scrimmage, just using power and quick beat. You want to exactly the type of guy that you want because he is going to open holes for you. I don't want to say I had issues with him. I love so much about his game. I think he's technically sound. I think he's excellent in past protection. I think he's excellent as well as a run blocker. And he's sufficient. And I would say good as a run blocker who is on the move. He finishes blocks amazingly. My one, I guess, um, slight concern with him if we're just talking about selecting him at five is he's not the most athletic, right?

4:03.5

Like he's a little bit tight in the lower half and he's, I would say he's a sufficient athlete as an interior offensive lineman, but I see a lot of comps to like Quentin Nelson, and I don't

4:08.4

necessarily think it's quite that.

4:10.6

But holy crap, but I love for you wanting to be added to the New York Giants to be that right guard or left guard, depending on which one he is more comfortable playing.

4:18.7

Because I think he is the type of tone setter that the Giants want.

4:21.8

I think he fits perfectly what John Harbaugh also wants when it just comes to being able to fire off the line of scrimmage and just drive a defender into the dirt.

4:29.8

And that's the type of mentality. I think the Giants are trying to cultivate the 12, 13 personnel with guys like Patrick Ricard, right? And I do think he can move in space. I just don't think it's a it's an asset that would be like a top five, top 10 guard in the national football league when it comes to him kicking out in space. I think it is a little bit rigid relative to where the Giants would be selecting if they did consider him at five. Yeah, we'll get into all of that. I like that early breakdown. I want to dive deeper into your thoughts on all of that. I do want to say, for starters, just based on a few things you said, Nick, I don't know.

5:22.6

Are people comparing him to Quentin Nelson or are they saying he's the best guard since Quentin Nelson? Because those are two different things. And the first one, I can't get on board with at all. I'm with you. If there is any kind of comparison to the way these guys play, I don't think that they're comparable at all. The second one is more interesting to me because it depends what you're looking for in that position.
