So jumping into the news, there's a new dinosaur discovery. Well, maybe not that new. It was actually discovered back in 1998 by

Oliver Rauchut and colleagues, but they've been preparing the fossil and then the paper since then,

but we still don't know too much about it. It's named Vihnvanator Albatai, and Vihen comes from a chain of hills in

northwest Germany, which is west of Hanover, where it was found, and Venator is Latin for

Hunter. We see that in a fair number of dinosaur names. Concavenator. Afrovenator. Yeah. The specific name Albatai honors geologist Friedrich Albat who found the fossil, though it was 18 years ago now.

It's a megalosauroid, and unfortunately, much like megalosaurus, they didn't find much of the skeleton.

They have a decent portion of the front of the skull, six big sharp teeth,

and some of them even have preserved serrations, even though they're not particularly well preserved.
