Summary
THE WORD THIS WEEK IS: vapor.
"Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Everything is meaningless!" Wait, what?!
Yup. Meaningless. What if I were to tell you there's nothing new under the sun & that our life is merely vapor? Would it challenge you to live differently? Would it put things into perspective more?
This week as we dive into Chapter 1 of Ecclesiastes, put your ego aside & fully experience the moments that you’re in for the gifts that they are -- we are so blessed to be alive for such a time as this. Don't chase after wind. Don't build your dreams on vanity and vapor. There is a time for everything & a season for every activity under the heavens.
You are loved my friend. Go rise up. || xxE

| 0:00.0 | What's up friends? It's E! Happy New Year! It's 2020, a fresh new decade, clean new book, all blank pages, and I am so excited to see what God has in store for all of you. |
| 0:13.0 | For those of you who are new, welcome to Midweek Rise Up. I'll give you a quick little rundown of how these short episodes are laid out. First, |
| 0:21.6 | we're going to hold on to a word for the week. We're going to carry it in our hearts, |
| 0:24.6 | and then we're going to dig into what that word means in scripture, and then also how |
| 0:29.6 | it's relevant to us in our daily lives. From there, I want to challenge you to be able to |
| 0:34.6 | apply what we talk about here into the rest of your week as you continue to |
| 0:38.8 | encourage others. Well, you guys ready? Let's jump into the good news. The word for this week is |
| 0:45.0 | vapor. You might hear people say, don't sweat the small stuff. It's exactly what it is, small |
| 0:50.7 | stuff. And sometimes you're like, no, it's really not small stuff, Karen. It's not. |
| 0:56.0 | My world is crumbling right now before my eyes. I lost my job. My friendships are a disaster. |
| 1:01.8 | My name is being slandered. My reputation is on the line. And our list just goes on and on with the |
| 1:08.4 | baggage that we carry. But what if I were to tell you that it really |
| 1:12.9 | is all just vapor? It's all just one big breath of inhale and exhale. And it's a form of vanity |
| 1:20.5 | in some of the most meaningless pursuits in life. So let's break this down. From a biblical standpoint, |
| 1:26.7 | the Bible talks about this type of vapor. |
| 1:29.7 | And it's traditionally known that King Solomon was the author of the ancient wisdom book called |
| 1:34.3 | Ecclesiastes. And it's said that he wrote three books in the Holy Bible, Song of Solomon, |
| 1:40.5 | which when he was young, he wrote that. Proverbs in his middle age is what they're saying. And then |
| 1:46.8 | Ecclesiastes in his older age, roughly written about 935 BC, which I love that he wrote in his |
| 1:54.0 | older age, the book of Ecclesiastes, because hindsight is always 20, 20, always. And within the book of Ecclesiastes, King Solomon |
| 2:02.7 | shares about his life and the things he learned and shares some timeless advice for the reader. |
| 2:08.5 | And the cool thing about the Bible, and maybe this is just a total Bible nerd moment on my end, |
