Technology is wonderful, isn't it?

Wonderful and terrible.

What a bargain we've made.

Seems like for every good thing we get from our devices, we lose something we like timing.

Such as privacy.

Those little devices and others know where you are, even what you're doing most of the time.

And my oh my how that's changed crime fighting.

This mystery is one of the early examples of a case that might never have been solved otherwise.

But what really made this story special was not so much the technology

as the family, that very old-fashioned thing, right at the center of it.

Vanished.

They're watching us.

They know where we are.

How we shop, how we play, what we do.

Who we love.

Electronic eyes.

The sticky pixel fingerprints follow us almost everywhere.

And the weird, fractured, personal diary they write.

Remains forever.

Of course, it's meaningless most of it.

Meaningless, that is, until it's not.
