Hey, Doug. This week's News Roundup begins with an update on a story that began unfolding about a year ago during a Taylor Swift theme cruise.

0:41.5

Yeah, now, let's get this out of the way right up front because I don't want to get, you know, 10,000 emails from Tatea fans calling us out.

The singer had absolutely nothing to do with this cruise or what happened on it or this story. And sadly,

0:56.7

what happened on it was tragic for one family as a 66-year-old woman named Dulce White fell overboard

1:04.3

as Royal Caribbean's Lord of the Seas was sailing toward the Bahamas. This was a chartered fan event celebrating all things Taylor Swift.

1:13.6

1:40.4

that maybe her mom was trying to get something out of her luggage because apparently for some

1:43.8

reason they had stored their luggage out on the balcony, which I've never heard people doing that

1:48.2

before, but I guess it's a thing. She thought that's what her mom was doing, but when she looked again,

1:53.2

she realized that her mom had climbed up on the railing and was facing the water and eventually

1:59.6

went overboard.

2:02.8

An attorney for the family said that not only do they blame the crew for overserving the woman,

2:09.1

but their ultimate goal with this lawsuit is to see all cruise lines do away with unlimited drink packages.

2:17.5

So, you know, I struggle with stories like this because I obviously you feel for the family.

2:24.9

It's a terrible thing that happened.

2:27.9

And you do, we certainly have all seen situations where, you know, someone has had too much to drink and maybe some, maybe the crew should stop serving them.

2:38.5

There's also the issue of personal responsibility, you know.

2:41.7

And I think that's going to be what probably becomes the fulcum of this case, if and when it moves forward, is where the responsibility for what happened lies.
