These days, there's voices everywhere telling us that we dare not settle for mundane gifts

for that special someone.

Forget the chocolates and the flowers, as the today show.

Think creative, think thoughtful.

To help, they offer a top 10 hottest gifts for Valentine's Day.

For the guys, maybe a heart-shaped box of beef jerky or maybe a bouquet of salami?

No, I'm not kidding.

For the ladies, they suggest a pair of Spank's faux leather leggings or bubblegum colored

slip-on sneakers.

Couples might gift each other they suggest a heart-shaped waffle iron or a touch bracelet

set so that you can send each other digital love messages that vibrate and light up.

Just to commercialize romantic love, of course, what the Greeks called aeros, more on that

in just a moment.

Well, that's nothing new.
