Vaccine nationalism is the phrase of the week, as the UK continues to celebrate its success

in delivering jabs. I'm Heather Stewart, political editor of The Guardian and this is politics weekly.

As my colleague John Crase wrote this week, the Health Secretary Matt Hancock was all smiles,

as he told the public that not only was the infection rate starting to come down,

but the government was pushing ahead with its plan to get the most vulnerable people in society

vaccinated on schedule. In the background, though, not all is perfect. The NHS announced that

tens of thousands of people would have to be tested in a door-to-door two-week sprint

to halt the spread of the South African coronavirus variant, as cases were found across England.
