As the story in Uvalde, Texas continues to evolve, it certainly does not get any better

or any less tragic or sad in so many ways.

On Wednesday, I was honored to speak at the Olathe Rotary Club meeting at the beautiful

Olathe Library on 135th Street, and it dominated the conversation there, not just in my comments,

but in the Q&A, I mean, certainly we talked about sports and some other things,

but this is a dedicated group of great Americans. Rotarians are just fantastic people and

rotary clubs are, they're just horrific. It was a wide variety of people there. One gentleman

used to be a top gun pilot. It was in Miramar in the 70s. We had some people that worked for Senator Moran were there.

There were other people, certainly, that were Democrats and didn't like some of the things

maybe that I had to say.

But everyone in the room was in complete agreement that we have to stop school shootings.

And there was nobody hard right, hard left on the Second Amendment,

gun stances, things like that. I think this is, I think what I'm learning about the Second

Amendment is that a large number of American people, a majority of American people, believe

in the Second Amendment. They support it. But within that large group, it is something like

the abortion issue. You have small groups of people on the very far right and on the very far left

that take this issue to an extreme. They become hardened. I didn't sense anybody in the room

But I didn't see anybody on the right that wasn't willing to say, look, we need more stringent background tests.

Or a longer waiting period.
