Utilities, they may have new smart meter technology in hand, but how smart are they really

about the massive amounts of data they can now read and its value to you and me, the consumer.

Our experts today will weigh in. We're going to hear from Cobb EMC's Roke-Marino,

and I have to remember to call him Marino. And he says, with the smart meter being part of operations, utilities have to cope with the fact that there is no turning

back on the quantum leap on the multitudes of reeds. That's meter reads. We'll be talking to

Marino in a few minutes. Ovham Stewart, Rayvum says, smartness begins and ends with analyzing the vast volumes of data created in a smart grid deployment.

We'll be talking to Stewart.

Smart Grid Libraries, Christine Herzog says, there's not much data about how much consumers really understand about who might touch their energy consumption data or what it's worth when third parties

involved are involved.

And Christine's going to talk to us about who those third parties are and what they might

be doing to our energy meters.

And SAP's James McClellan says, a whole new area of service will be created, providing

energy efficiency to the consumer.

Here's a big question, though.

How far inside of that meter do you want outside companies to have automatic access to

adjust your energy consumption?
