Hello everyone and welcome to police off the cuff real crime stories.

I'm your host, retired NYPD Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year

veteran of the NYPD. We have a really interesting, interesting case that is just about ready

to go to trial. The person in this case is a Utah mother and children's book author,

Corey Richards, and she's going to stand trial in her husband's death for poisoning him.

And when we hear all of the nefarious reasons behind this, of course, what other reason would

there be to kill your husband?

And of course, money has to be involved somewhere and some way along the way.

Greed, perhaps infidelity, and perhaps other persons involved in this alleged murder.

But Corey Richens was arrested.

I believe it was last May.

So she's been in for over a year.

And her defense attorneys have been fighting the charges in the hearings, trying to get

the charges drop, saying there's not enough evidence to go forth.

Believe me, there is a lot of evidence to go forth in this case.

And usually when it's murder for a motive, financial motive,

there's always a potential for a death penalty case.

However, I think that has been taken off the table.

But the bizarre thing about this case is that after the murder was committed off the death of her husband, Craig,

she wrote this book that you see the cover on the screen, Are You With Me? A children's book

that taught children how to deal with the grief from the death of a parent.

Unbelievable, right?
