There is a particular kind of fear when a crime isn't just driven by rage or jealousy or money,

but instead driven by beliefs. And none is more chilling than when children

disappear under the shadow of a belief in the apocalypse. We've watched this play out before.

And the name Lori Vallow stands as a clear warning for how catastrophically wrong these beliefs

can turn, which brings us to Utah, and a case that should serve as a cautionary warning to us all.

A Utah mother is now accused of abducting her own four children and disappearing into the night.

And it's not like we haven't heard of custodial abductions before. We have.

But they usually stem from family fights over who gets the kids, who doesn't, right? But this one is

different because police say that this mom was driven by a fear that the end times were coming.

The apocalypse.

That was the driving force here.

35-year-old Alicia Ann Seymour is charged with four counts of custodial interference and removing a child from the state.

After police say she didn't just leave the home, or the city, or even the state,

they say Alicia bundled those kids up and fled the country.

According to investigators, the plot went down on November 29th, so just after Thanksgiving.

That's the last day anybody outside of her family saw or heard from Alicia. And police say she stopped answering phone calls from a coworker and from a friend on that

very same day, November 29th.

A couple days later, on December 2nd, officers with the West Jordan Police Department in

Utah went to Seymour's home to do, you know, the obvious,

a welfare check.
