Hello, everybody, and welcome to the Total fun show where we only care about fun and nothing else.

My name is Taylor Rockwell with me today, the master of fun, the king of all ceremonies of fun.

It's Joe Lowry. I couldn't think of more titles, Joe. I mean, man, I thought you did quite well with giving me titles. I don't know if that's all going to fit on my business card. I think I can get a font that small enough for that. I didn't know how and I knew we were going to be energetic today. I didn't know how much energy you were going to come in with after having a night to sleep on it. What I'm now assuming is that you didn't sleep at all and instead just rewatch this game, I don't know how many times, probably like six times or four times since it ended, however many times you could, basically is what I'm assuming. Mostly yes to the first part, mostly no to the second. Very little sleep over here, Joe, but I did rewatch some parts in some moments, not even just the highlights, but after like watching chunks, like watch the whole thing, went back and rewatch chunks to get a better understanding of certain moments, then spent a lot of time watching Christian Pool is sick.

Yes, I am very excited after this performance.

No, it does not alleviate the existing concerns.

It does not alleviate the concerns I had after the

lost to Colombia. But this was a very fun game, Joe. I had a lot of fun watching it. We will talk

about expectations long term, short term, Copa America term for the United States, what we want to

see, what we haven't seen, the players, all that good stuff in our next

episode with Ryan.

Right now, we're talking about this one-to-one win over Brazil. Joe. I knew it was coming. I knew it was coming. Somebody, I can't remember if it was in a Slack channel I'm in or in the Discord somewhere tossed back out that, I don't think it's a New York post, that headline of, like, US beats England one to one.

It does sort of feel like that.

And I think that sets the stage well of just a reminder of where the U.S. is, right? Like the U.S. is not at a point where they can reasonably come in to expect to play and win games against Brazil or against England or against any of these Germany they played last fall, right? The U.S. is still the underdog in all of these games, which is part of what makes it

fun when they actually get something out of it, right? I think the stat was that the U.S. has played Brazil, like at least double-digit time, something approaching 20, and they've only gotten a result now in two of those games. So, yeah, this is unexpected. I thought the U.S. were going to lose this game, and I'm guessing basically everybody else did too, and that they did not, is both fun and worth digging into how on earth that happened. Because, Taylor, this was, I think if you play this game, like, 100 times, and I wrote this for Back Heald last night, if you play this game a hundred times, I think the U.S. does end up not getting something out of it for most of them. But they gave themselves like a legit chance. And they hung in this game. Like this was not a, wow, man, Brazil had like 20 clear cut opportunities, which was a realistic possibility coming into this game. It wasn't, oh, Brazil had chance after chance after chance. Yeah, Matt Turner made some saves. But the U.S. did a half decent job, maybe even more than that,

of limiting Brazil, and they found a few nice looks of their own.

Like, this was a legit performance that you can be proud of against a very, very good Brazil team.

I am impressed.

I am too.

And I think it kind of starts there, Joe, like to the point you're making about how it

wasn't just a like they bunkered and held on. And then, you know, Casey Keller made 17 saves or

whatever it is that got a pop song in Brazil named after him. And like there, don't get me wrong.
